About

“I do not seek – I find.”

Seeking – that is starting out from the already known and wanting to find what is already known in the new. Finding – that is completely new!

The new also in the movement. All paths are open and what is found is unknown. It is a venture, a holy adventure!

Pablo Picasso

The subject of my artistic work is transformation. My heart beats for the abstract expressionists of the 20th century, and I develop my abstract vocabulary through the exploration of natural materials and an intuitive and process-oriented approach. Various building materials, stone dust, swamp (pit) lime, sands, and pigments provide the foundation – wax, through its transparency, allows insight into the depths of a work’s process. All materials are important components of my contemporary interpretation of the ancient techniques of encaustic and fresco painting.

On my path as a self-taught artist and personal transformation, I am inspired by Gabriele Musebrink, who has brought me closer to the subtlety of building materials and opened up the world of intuitive process painting and structures. The mentoring of Michael David supports me in the constant exploration of my limits, and on the way to understanding why I do what I do.

I have been represented by the gallery “frontofbicycle” in Basel since 2017. I am a member of the Swiss Society of Women Visual Artists (SGBK), the International Encaustic Association (IEA) and a founding member of the European Chapter of the IEA in 2022.

In Switzerland, my works were shown at various group exhibitions of frontofbicycle in Basel, and at ARTE Binningen. Internationally, I was invited to present my encaustic works at the juried shows of the International Encaustic Conference in Provincetown (“Trans” in 2018), Atlantic Gallery in New York (“Re-Building in 2020”), and Trevisan International Art Gallery in Bologna (“Little Treasures” in 2019).

Since 2019 I have been teaching wax painting techniques (encaustic and cold wax) in my studio kunstfreiraum in Oberwil, as well as at various art academies in Germany, Austria, Ireland, and the USA. In 2020 we published the first comprehensive online workshops on the topics of encaustic and cold wax painting. Since 2023, I have been an Artist Instructor for R&F Handmade Paints, the world leader in encaustic paints.
